A woman’s hair is one of the most important parts of their beauty routine. Hundreds of dollars are spent every year by individual women to maintain their locks and keep them looking their best. Aside from just a normal haircut, many women opt to get highlights to change or enhance their natural hair color. Many turn to a cheap salon or even store bought products to do the job, often ending up with mediocre results or results that last longer than a couple of weeks. This can leave many women feeling disenchanted with the process of coloring their hair and feeling less confident. Many a Houston hair salon has started offering a service known as balayage which can improve coloring results for women.

Balayage is a coloring technique that began in France in the 1970’s. Rather than the traditional foiling technique used by most salons, balayage is a coloring process that involves the stylists painting on the color, leading to more effective results. The benefits of this technique go beyond the physical components, however. Balayage highlights can go 8-12 weeks without being touched up, whereas traditional foil highlights can have to be retouched in as little as 6 weeks. The longer time between highlight and coloring sessions can save an individual time and money. Aside from not having to dye your hair as often, there are other ways balayage is healthier for your hair. Since the dye does not completely saturate your hair, you can expect less damage. Balayage is also safe for pregnant women and those with allergies, as the dye does not sit on the scalp but rather just the hair.

Balayage not only has numerous health and maintenance benefits, but is more versatile as the highlights can be as soft or as strong as you prefer. Women are now looking to balayage for not only these reasons, but to feel as confident in their hair as they possibly can.
